What is the best way to have dinner at the Michelin starred restaurant without spending a fortune? Going there quickly after the restaurant’s nomination! Not only it’s a pleasure to be among the first ones to discover a new talented chef but also a chance to pay the “before Michelin star” price for an exceptional meal. After having dinner at Pourquoi Pas, a restaurant in Brittany which got its first star this year, I definitely recommend you to hurry up and book a table there before it becomes too high-demand!
But let me tell you everything in order.
The restaurant Pourquoi Pas is located at the hotel Castelbrac which I introduced you in my previous article. The chef of the restaurant Julien Hennote is just 35 years old but together with his team of six persons he assures such a high level of fine dining that Pourquoi Pas was granted a Michelin star in January 2019. The chef prefers local products and his recipes are all about finding the harmony in simplicity.
In summer it’s possible to dine on the outside terrace but in April the evenings are still fresh so we stayed inside in the luminous dining room offering a spectacular view over the bay. We opted for the Lord Hamilton menu (55€) accompanied by its wine pairing (20€). I also added a glass of champagne for aperitif.
The Lord Hamilton menu is fish-based and consists of a starter, main dish, cheese and dessert. The wine pairing includes two glasses of wine. The dinner was light and healthy but we got up from the table perfectly filled! I really appreciate when a gourmet restaurant serves not only fancy but also good, hearty food.
