When I look at the Pont Neuf (which is not “neuf” – new – in fact but on the conrary, the oldest bridge in Paris), I always remember the film of Leox Carax “The Lovers on the New Bridge”. It’s not my favourite film, not a film easy to watch and even rather painful, but it creates an image of Paris which is hard to forget.
Actually, a real Paris is so much mixed with its images from literature, cinema and paintings that you can hardly separate reality and imagination. You arrive to the Gare de l’Est – and you recognize the train station where Ameli discovered the secret of the photo machine. You walk around Notre Dame – and you can’t stop thinking of Esmeralda and Quasimodo… That is, Paris is inhabited not only by real people but also by personages of books and films.
For this shooting I worked with a talented parisian photographer Hana (by the way, I strongly recommend you her blog http://www.journeyintolavillelumiere.com/, it’s absolutely amazing!), with whom we met due to Instagram. Hana sees Paris exactly how I see it – full of light, air and elegance, that’s why I was so delighted to work with her! She’s so inspired and passionate person, that time flied that morning of shooting!
